In Ombala Yo Mungo after millions of dollars invested in drills without water or with brackish water, Owini was called to solve the problem of a Comuna called Ombala Yo Mungo, in Ombadja municipality, where two water systems were already built but none had water. We made two drills with brackish water and installed a fully solar powered desalination system with reserve osmosis that allowed the village to have access to treated water. The inhabitants treated this as a miracle, in one of the less developed Provinces in Angola, where the droughts are constant, we were able to allow the access to treated water to this population, effectively changing their lifes.
The project impact-
The impact can be measured in several aspects, mainly in terms of health, the improvement of hygiene and the consumption of treated water reduces the illnesses and the number of senseless deaths in the inhabitants.
During the project construction and the O&M phase a lot of inhabitants are hired to work which allows them to use the money received to buy materials and equipment to improve their livelihood.
In most of the rural areas people sometimes walk for several kilometers to fetch water from rivers, with our systems they can use their time in a more productive matter.
The social impact is huge, probably one of the most important of all company’s projects because the access to treated water changes the life of those affected, water is life is a common saying in developing countries.
The solution-
The added value of this project is the fully solar powered desalination system with reserve osmosis that allowed the village to have access to treated water.
